Greetings from Tel Aviv

It’s still seems like a dream which we’ll wake up of any minute: not even two months ago we found an e-mail in our mailbox, we nearly deleted it as spam because of the unknown characters in the sender line. These were, however, Hebrew letters and email held a huge promise: an invitation to the Israel blogger conference“Blogo” in Tel Aviv on 07/30/2012.

After an nocturnal flight we landed only this morning at 3 am local time in hot and sticky Tel Aviv. As soon as we sat in the taxi – now and then smiling mischievously – the tiredness of the flight was forgotten. After only four hours’ sleep we got up this morning to meet the team of Saloona. We met for breakfast Imi Eiron CEO, Editor-in-Chief Ronit and project manager for conference Efrat in the wonderful cafe “Coffee Bar” in the heart of Tel Aviv. The city seems paradoxical on the first glance, because in seemingly run-down streets – typical building style from the area next to high buildings with a lot of glass -  you step in the most stylish bar with huge flower arrangements and breakfast consists off the best fruit salad and breakfast rolls you can imagine.

First hours in Tel Aviv / Israel

Afterwards Ronit took us along to Saloona’s office and gave us an introduction in the philosophy and characteristics of the site. A great conversation from which we took a lot of ideas along. Saloona is an Internet magazine for women, which works together with over 6000 bloggers. The article are written either by editors / journalists as well as from bloggers of the vast network. Thereby not only topics like food and child-rearing are covered, but the team of about 10 (we don’t guarantee for the number) also has a strong focus on News / Politics and Finance from a female perspective.

The conference “Blogo” will take place tomorrow in the city part of Jaffa. Keynote Speaker is Kara Swisher of allthingsd.com, to whose presentation Toni is particularly looking forward. About 400 people will take part, so it will be already a huge conference! Exciting, as Blogo is taking place only the first year. Many thanks from our side belong to The Hive team which recommended us for this conference which is a huge professional and personal opportunity for us.

Toni will be tweeting again tomorrow and we end now our Internet time at the Art Hotel “Diaghilev” and will bravely break out in the heat towards Rothschild Boulevard!

Many Greetings from Israel!
